Fix the bottleneck

Advanced Research or Command Limit?

Start with Advanced Research if advanced units are not appearing; start with Command Limit if you have units you cannot field. They solve different problems, so pick the checkpoint that matches your run rather than following an assumed purchase order.

Cannot field more units

Check Command Limit

Two separate checks from Inaqea’s description of permanent upgrades.

Advanced Research

Inaqea describes this as raising advanced-unit appearance, up to 15% in that report. The per-upgrade increments, price and precise probability context are not established by the reply.

Command Limit

The same reply describes increasing the unit limit from 5 to 8. This is army capacity, rather than another way to improve the appearance of advanced units.

For a player who already has useful units waiting, inspect Command Limit first. For a player still waiting to see advanced units, inspect Advanced Research first. That is a recommendation by bottleneck, not a claim that either upgrade must unlock the other.

Check what you already own

  1. Identify the actual problem: available unit choices or field space.
  2. Read the matching upgrade and its current purchase state in the permanent tree.
  3. Use the current game’s cost and next increment to decide whether that purchase addresses the problem.

The source does not establish a mandatory order between these two upgrades. Do not infer a dependency from their names or from their appearance together in a comment.

A losing run does not identify the upgrade by itself

The discussion began with a player reporting worse results after the update. Other replies report different outcomes, including a player who had not lost across five runs.

Those experiences do not prove a universal difficulty change or a build that guarantees a win. The practical next step is to inspect the two permanent-upgrade states, then choose the one that matches the bottleneck you can actually see.

Faction choices use a separate meta-upgrade check. Command Limit and Advanced Research are not substitutes for finding that unlock.
