The permanent unlock
How to unlock faction choices
Check the meta-upgrade system first. The developer points to a permanent upgrade; tadsen places it in the lower part of the upgrade tree and says faction choices should be visible at the first promotion after buying it.
Start in permanent upgrades
A missing faction choice is an upgrade check before it is a reinstall task. The player who opened the thread had already verified files and reinstalled. The developer’s answer was to check the meta upgrade.
Read the current tree’s descriptions for the node name, cost and connected prerequisites; the discussion identifies the system and its lower area.
Use the checkpoint that matches your state
- You have not bought it
- Start at the lower part of the permanent upgrade tree. Look for the faction-related unlock before expecting promotion choices.
- You have bought it
- Inspect the first promotion. tadsen says this is where the added options should be visible after the upgrade.
- You are not sure
- Check the purchase state in the tree first. An uncertain upgrade state does not establish that the feature is broken or that the upgrade is missing.
Faction Synergy arrived as a beta system in the official 0.4.0 update. The upgrade check above is more specific to the missing-option question than the announcement alone.
Forest counts different types, not extra copies
Read the Forest counter as different types. Two copies of the same type do not establish that you have reached two types. In the shown run, the counter is 1/2, so the first tier is still short.

| Forest types | Restored health |
|---|---|
| 2 | 10% of max HP |
| 4 | 16% of max HP |
| 6 | 22% of max HP |
The regeneration triggers the first time each Forest unit falls to 50% HP or below, once per battle. Adding different Forest types raises the tier; adding more copies alone is not the same count.
This describes the Forest tooltip shown in Dabble’s run. Read another faction’s own condition rather than giving it Forest’s thresholds.
Do not count every promotion card as a different class
The recorded Ferret Tamer promotion shows several Ringmaster candidates with different traits. If you see repeated names, read the class name and trait details separately; the number of cards is not a count of unique class branches.
This is a useful follow-up check after the faction unlock, without assuming that a particular number of cards proves a particular faction state.
